What is Numicon?

“Numicon – strong with mathematics” is our offer for children aged 4 to 6. Numicon is a didactic-mathematical system that was developed at the world-famous University of Oxford and was awarded the Education Resources Awards (ERA) in 2015 as the world’s best educational-mathematical method. The process of learning and understanding numbers takes place through guided, comprehensible and visual play. The program helps children to understand numbers and number systems, to develop mental images and to learn mathematical language.

Early mathematical experience

Mathematics helps us orient ourselves in space and time and enables us to make technical progress. Models of time, space, light and all natural phenomena can only be created using mathematics. That is why mathematics should be introduced from early childhood. It is necessary to awaken and develop interest in mathematics at an early age and the best way to do this is through play! We offer a stimulating environment in which the child can develop and rediscover themselves. This is a first step towards developing their own potential.

Who is Numicon suitable for?

The program is aimed at children aged 4 to 6 who want to get to know the world of numbers in a simple and entertaining way.

We work in small groups of 6 to 8 participants.

Classes take place once a week for 2 school hours.

We develop an individual approach for each child.

The program can be adapted to children with special needs by arrangement.

Multi-layered approach to work – The VAK method

In our Numicon course, we develop an action strategy using the VAK method (visual-auditory-kinesthetic) through targeted play, which is unique in its effect. By consciously alternating different activities, the children learn with all their senses:

Visually

(Observation of elements and recognition of elements through colors and shapes)

Auditory

(Listening to instructions – mathematical language and answering questions – describing connections)

Kinesthetics

(motor movements and sense of form – touch and movement in space – search for a specific form).
